Video Conference

Actually when my english class threw Video Conference, i was doing my tasks. So i didn't join. I had thought fisrt there would only regular learning activity, so i chose to do my tasks because it was too many, and close to the deadline. After i had done some percent of my tasks, i went back to school and suddenly my english classmate told me that Video Conference had been held. So i felt regret. I had never joined some Video Conference. I thought it would be exciting.

T.... TA..... TAS..... TASK...... TASKS....... TASK....... TAS....... TA....... T........ TI..... TIR.... TIRE.....
TIRED!!!!!!!!!!

At that time was so close to semseter examination, there were so many assignments that had to be done quickly. So teachers could input the score to the report card. Because assignment really influence the grade, so i did my assignments with all of my skill and creativity, in case hoping i would get good score.

I hope in next time teachers will not give the students too many assigments. We need to rest, and feel our teenage moment

Every religion or culture all over the world has their own way to define and celebrate their new year. For example, the Chinese have the Imlek year and to celebrate it, have, as they called it in their own language, "Gong Xi Fat Choy". The Moslem societies have their Muharam year, and any of the people over the world using the Gregorian calendar, celebrate the New Year on January 1st.

The same thing also occurs in Bali, however the Balinese use many different calendar systems. They have adopted the Gregorian calendar for business and government purposes. But for the endless procession of holy days, temple anniversaries, celebrations, sacred dances, building houses, wedding ceremonies, death and cremation processes and other activities that define Balinese life, they have two calendar systems. The first is the Pawukon (from the word Wuku which means week) and Sasih (which is means month). Wuku consists of 30 items starting from Sinta, the first Wuku and end up with the Watugunung the last one. The Pawukon, a 210-day ritual calendar brought over from Java in the 14th century, is a complex cycle of numerological conjunctions that provides the basic schedule for ritual activities on Bali. Sasih, a parallel system of Indian origin, is a twelve month lunar calendar that starts with the vernal equinox and is equally important in determining when to pay respect to the Gods.
Westerners open the New Year in revelry, however, in contrast, the Balinese open their New Year in silence. This is called Nyepi Day, the Balinese day of Silence, which falls on the day following the dark moon of the spring equinox, and opens a new year of the Saka Hindu era which began in 78 A.D.

Nyepi is a day to make and keep the balance of nature. It is based on the story of when King Kaniska I of India was chosen in 78 A.D. The King was famous for his wisdom and tolerance for the Hinduism and Buddhism societies. In that age, Aji Saka did Dharma Yatra (the missionary tour to promote and spread Hinduism) to Indonesia and introduce the Saka year.

The lead upto Nyepi day is as follows:

  • Melasti or Mekiyis or Melis (three days before Nyepi)
Melasti is meant to clean the pratima or arca or pralingga (statue), with symbols that help to concentrate the mind in order to become closer to God. The ceremony is aimed to clean all nature and its content, and also to take the Amerta (the source for eternal life) from the ocean or other water resources (ie lake, river, etc). Three days before Nyepi, all the effigies of the Gods from all the village temples are taken to the river in long and colourful ceremonies. There, they have are bathed by the Neptune of the Balinese Lord, the God Baruna, before being taken back home to their shrines.
  • Tawur Kesanga (the day before Nyepi)
Exactly one day before Nyepi, all villages in Bali hold a large exorcism ceremony at the main village cross road, the meeting place of demons. They usually make Ogoh-ogoh (the fantastic monsters or evil spirits or the Butha Kala made of bamboo) for carnival purposes. The Ogoh-ogoh monsters symbolize the evil spirits surrounding our environment which have to be got rid of from our lives . The carnivals themselves are held all over Bali following sunset. Bleganjur, a Balinese gamelan

  • music accompanies the procession. Some are giants taken from classical Balinese lore. All have fangs, bulging eyes and scary hair and are illuminated by torches. The procession is usually organised by the Seka Teruna, the youth organisation of Banjar. When Ogoh-ogoh is being played by the Seka Teruna, everyone enjoys the carnival. In order to make a harmonic relation between human being and God, human and human, and human and their environments, Tawur Kesanga is performed in every level of society, from the people's house. In the evening, the Hindus celebrating Ngerupuk, start making noises and light burning torches and set fire to the Ogoh-ogoh in order to get the Bhuta Kala, evil spirits, out of our lives.
  • Nyepi
On Nyepi day itself, every street is quiet - there are nobody doing their normal daily activities. There is usually Pecalangs (traditional Balinese security man) who controls and checks for street security. Pecalang wear a black uniform and a Udeng or Destar (a Balinese traditional "hat" that is usually used in ceremony). The Pecalangs main task is not only to control the security of the street but also to stop any activities that disturb Nyepi. No traffic is allowed, not only cars but also people, who have to stay in their own houses. Light is kept to a minimum or not at all, the radio or TV is turned down and, of course, no one works. Even love making, this ultimate activity of all leisure times, is not supposed to take place, nor even attempted. The whole day is simply filled with the barking of a few dogs, the shrill of insect and is a simple long quiet day in the calendar of this otherwise hectic island. On Nyepi the world expected to be clean and everything starts anew, with Man showing his symbolic control over himself and the "force" of the World, hence the mandatory religious control.
  • Ngembak Geni (the day after Nyepi)
Ngembak is the day when Catur Berata Penyepian is over and Hindus societies usually visit to forgive each other and doing the Dharma Canthi. Dharma Canthi are activities of reading Sloka, Kekidung, Kekawin, etc.(ancient scripts containing songs and lyrics).

From the religious and philosophy point of view, Nyepi is meant to be a day of self introspection to decide on values, eg humanity, love, patience, kindness, etc., that should kept forever. Balinese Hindus have many kind of celebrations (some sacred days) but Nyepi is, perhaps the most important of the island's religious days and the prohibitions are taken seriously, particularly in villages outside of Bali's southern tourist belt. Hotels are exempt from Nyepi's rigorous practices but streets outside will be closed to both pedestrians and vehicles (except for airport shuttles or emergency vehicles) and village wardens (Pecalang) will be posted to keep people off the beach. So wherever you happen to be staying on Nyepi Day in Bali, this will be a good day to spend indoors. Indeed Nyepi day has made Bali a unique island.

Bakti Desa 2014

Now I will tell you about my experience: bakti desa 32016
It was enjoy, heart-touching, great, and full-experience. I won’t ever forget it. By the way what is bakdes? Bakdes is short of Bakti Desa. It’s an activity such a kind of KKN, but it is just for SMA 3. Because it was held by SMA 3 as a requirement for graduated. But, it’s not pure like KKN actually, because all the students only concentrated to feel how unlucky people lives, and to do their sacrifice to fulfill their needs. But every class have to throw some charity activity too, and make some report at he end. Okay, let’s begin the story…….
One day before bakdes, all the students were at old-AULA. We did some technical meeting. There we were told; what we have to do there, what we need, what we’re going to do. And then, some alumnus came and gave us some information about local disease such diarrhea, dengue-fever, and bloody dengue-fever. And after that, every class got their living area. Every class would live apart from other class. So we couldn’t meet, except we accidentally met in same occasion.
My class got living area in Desa Joglo, but some of my friends were in Desa Cinengkelan. And then, every students of the class were divided again into some group. Every groups got different family and house to live. I was with Monica Serena, Nada Afina, and Nuraulia Mugniza. We got Mr. H. Aceng’s family house in Desa Joglo 01/03.

After technical meeting, my mother took me to super market to buy some needs for bakdes. I bought a lot of snacks, waters, soap, and some foods, etc. And I went home, then packed my bag with clothes, and the other needs. I brought two bags.
I slept not earlier, because packing is my wasting time ever! I can’t ever do it so quick, I need some hours to do it. And my mother helped me.

October 23, 2014 I woke up, not easily. I still felt sleepy, but I forced myself to prepare the day. At 5.30 AM I was ready, and my mother drove me to my school. When I arrived, I said goodbye to my mother, and ask her to pray me.

First, we gathered at Balai Desa, and then we sat to do an Opening of Bakti Desa. In the opening, our headmaster, Mr. Encang, spoke and gave us a speech about this program. After that, the Mayor of the village was also gave us a speech. After that, we lunch at Balai Desa with the buffet menu. After we finished eating, we went to our house in the village.

On the second day, my house-parents woke us up at 6.00 am. But before we work, we had our breakfast first. We ate "bala-bala" and many kind of food. The taste was really delicious. So, after we had breakfast we went straight to the field. The walk to the field was so far, but it was hilly and a bit muddy. We met our friend from other.

Last day on Bakdes, after 2 days living in here, came the day that we have to comeback to our home. We woke up at 4.30 a.m. After that we had breakfast like the day before and just relax in the morning. At 7 a.m. as the agreement the day before we gathered at the mosque. We threw "pengajian". And then we took some picture with our house-parents. Before we went to Bandung, our haose-parents gave us many vegetables and fruit as a gift from Cinengkelan. And finally we went to Bandung.

Opinion On Bullying ~ Peace Day

Bullying and cyber bullying are two major problems that young teens and adults have. These two things are not the same, but they do in fact intersect one another. Lots of people are committing suicide every year just because of this problem. It starts online then it can lead to neighborhoods or even at your own house. An important key to know if you’re being bullied, is to talk to someone about it, don’t keep it to yourself. Cyber bullying happens on many of the common places online. This includes places like MySpace or Facebook, but it’s also common in chats, instant messaging, and emails and on message boards. It’s really important to think before you post anything personal about yourself online.  The same thing goes for if you are being bullied on a school campus. Talk to someone about it. Or just stay near an instructor or someone where safe.
When people are being bullied online or on campus, it hurts them and they can go into the stage of stress or depression. They might feel lost and they don’t know what to do about it. That’s when they can’t trust anyone, and they become lonely. The worst part of it is when people find them dead. It’s a tragedy! Many people and family members have lots of unanswered questions. Of course, everyone wants to know who is involved, so they call the police immediately to investigate.
Bullying and even cyberbullying is everywhere no matter the grade or age. It is in elementary schools, middle school, high schools and even college. Bullies think life would be a lot better if all the people they harass would not be here. But the people who were bullied, I know for a fact if they were still here, they would also have a better life if the ones who started the bullying faced several punishments.
Parents and teachers need to be more aware when it comes to being bullied. No matter if it’s online or on school grounds.  If teachers or faculty members see someone getting bullied they should take the bullies to the principal’s office for a talk on the harm they are causing. The same thing goes for parents, if they know that their child or children are being bullied, they need to do something about it.
This also goes for the ones who use computers, cellphones, or any other devices. If someone is posting negative things about you, the best thing to do about it is by talking to someone else about it or delete that social network. That way, you will never see it again, and you can just move on with your life. One of the reasons why people like to bully others online is just because they are jealous of those people.
This is exactly why bullying and cyber bullying need to have a better law. Lots of innocent people are killing themselves just because of this. It’s very important that everyone follows the rules when they make an account on any social network. There is not enough punishment taking place.

MATSWAPATI

SMA 3 held an event on 27th September named “MATSWAPATI” in Jalan Bali Field. It’s such a kind of Culture Festival. My school seldom throw an event like this, even almost never. SMA 3 is not wonted to do such activities like the other school. We too focus to study, but I think we need some refreshing. I didn’t participate so much in this event by being commission, but I enlivened the event with my extracurricular group named KPA to play some songs with angklung.

I was at school at 10 AM. Actually I was come late. I was so panic before I had gone to my school, so I forgot to bring flat shoes. I should had wore it when showing, but I didn’t bring it. Fortunately, my friend Nadhira Anisa borrow me her flat shoes, I was so thankful to her.

When I arrived at school, quickly I brought my angklung. They were A, 6, and 12. I ran to second floor of SMA 3 old building. And finally I reached 12 grade class. There, my friends were practicing play a song title “Sahabat Sejati” by Sheila on 7. Not long, finally we were ready to show off!

Before KPA showed, Ts’T had shown first. When they showed, there were so many spectators. But when KPA started to perform, there were not as many as Ts’t’s spectators. But finally we played song beautifully, so the spectators were back and watched us! We were so happy and proud of it. After the perform, we went back to school and got some consumption. Yummy! I was really starving and tired by the way.

After that, I walked from school to Jalan Bali field with my friend Nuris Maulina. When we arrived there, we parted. I was with my besfriend Della, and Nuris was with her friends. The day hadn’t been so dark. We took some selfie. Bought drinks. Fooled around. But suddenly I was panic. Because I forgot to take a pray. Fortunately I was allowed to take a pray in ward with friend of my friend’s. After that, we back to in front of the stage to watch some perform.

Not long, Mikail Ilham came and greeted me. We took some selfie, and my friend Yasmin Meidina took a photo for us by her Polaroid, and gave it for free. After that I was stick together again with Della and watched some perform of  Wayang Golek Giriharja. It was so funny, witty, and shaking my stomach. I was laughing because it was so fun.

The sky was getting dark. The show began to brisk, and climax. We waited for the guest star, Glenn Fredly. Before  Glenn Fredly there were some guest stars like Sambasunda Junior, Wayang Golek Giriharja, Saung Angklung Udjo, Indonesian Bamboo Community, Barsena & KV3.

After han an ied prayer, my mother and i went back to house. My sister wasn't with us, because she had an ied prayer with my grand mother in Bandung. By the way my house is in Cimahi. As soon as my mother and i arrived at our house, my father came. And then we ate some ketupat and opor. They were so tasty and yummy. I just couln't help myself from eating it. I thought that day was lebaran, so we could eat as many as we want.

After that, my mother, my father and i went to my grand mother's house. It took thirty minutes to reach my grand mother's house.

After that we ate ketupat and opor again. And for additional, my grand mother served us rujak cuka. I really liked it! And then, we walked down the street in front of my grand mother's house and went to neighbors's house. My grand mother's neighbors are her siblings, so they are my family too. So, i went there, and got some money as we called "salam tempel". It was the happiest part of lebaran besides eat opor and ketupat.

After that we went to my grand father's house in Cijerah. Actually after we had an ied prayer we could go to my grand father's house first, but my mother said it was more polite if we go to my grand mother's first. There, i met my cousins, and got two boxes of chocolate and some money from my grand father.

After we had gone to family from my mother, we went to family's house from my father. Just the same, we said sorry to each other. I ate opor again. And there i got some money. Finally we went home.

The next week. 2 days before school, my big family from my mother went to Puncak to throw a family gathering. We convoy to there by car. As soon as we arrived there, every family got their own villa. We rent 3 villas.

The first day, the comittees of the event throw some games. Before join the game, we had divided into 3 categories; adult, teen, and baby. Why? Because to made the games fair. And then every categories were divided into 2 teams. I was in teen category, team 2.

First of all the games was "Bakiak". Baby category played first. They looked happy and enthusiastic. We couldn't stop ourself from laughing at them because they were so cute! After that, teen category. By the way my team won! After that, adult category played. It was not less fun! I was laughing when took some picture of them. I shouted my father and my mother to support them. Oh it was a fun games. After that, we played "Balap Karung", "Tarik Tambang", Marbles

Nevada Fall[1] is a 594-foot (181 m) high waterfall on the Merced River inYosemite National ParkCalifornia. It is located below the granite domeLiberty Cap, at the west end of Little Yosemite Valley. The waterfall is widely recognized by its "bent" shape, in which the water free-falls for roughly the first third of its length to a steep slick-rock slope. This mid-fall impact of the water on the cliff face creates a turbulent, whitewater appearance in the falls and produces a great deal of mist which covers a wide radius, which led to its current name (Nevada is an old Spanish word meaning "snowy"). Additionally, when viewed from the left-hand side, its angular shape is suggestive of the western border of the state of Nevada.
The Indian name was Yo-wy-we, signifying the twist or squirm of the falling water. Lafayette Bunnell suggested the name "Nevada" for the waterfall. He wrote, "The Nevada Fall was so called because it was the nearest to the Sierra Nevada, and because the name was sufficiently indicative of a wintry companion for our spring (Vernal Fall)... The white, foaming water, as it dashed down Yo-wy-we from the snowy mountains, represented to my mind a vast avalanche of snow."[2]
The Emerald Pool forms on the "step" between Nevada Fall and Vernal Fall downstream. The 317-foot (97 m) high Vernal Fall is a short hike from the bottom of Nevada Fall. They form a cascade in which the Merced River flows down to Yosemite Valley.
This cascade is sometimes called the giant staircase, which is evident when viewed from above, at Glacier Point.
The hike to the top of Nevada Fall, along the Mist Trail, is 3 miles (4.8 km) from the trailhead in Yosemite Valley. One must first hike to Vernal Fall and then trek another 2 miles (3.2 km) to reach the top. The John Muir Trail, which starts near the trail to Happy Isles, goes to the top of Nevada Fall.
In spite of the dangers and deaths as recently as June 2013, the pool above Nevada Fall remains a popular swimming location.

Inspiring Person

Everybody has their own inspiring person. For me Helen Keller is my inspiring person. I knew about her because when i was at 3 grade of elementary school my teacher told the students to buy books. My friend bought a comic titled "Helen Keller". I didn't know the story tells about, and then i borrowed it and read it. I was so amazed by it. And i asked my mother to bought it, and i bought it. But now, the comic lost.

By the way, why do i choose Helen Keller? Because she is a great, cool, and smart women. With all her perfect imperfection. All her flaws make her so flawless. So here's a story of her life.

Helen Keller (1880-1968) was an American author, political activist and campaigner for deaf and blind charities. Helen because deaf and blind as a young child and had to struggle to overcome her dual disability. However, she became the first deaf-blind person to attain a bachelors degree and became an influential campaigner for social, political and disability issues. Her public profile helped destigmatise blindness and deafness, and she was seen as a powerful example of someone overcoming difficult circumstances.

Helen Keller was born 27 June 1880 in Tusculum, Alabama. When she was only 19 months old, she experienced a severe childhood illness, which left her deaf and blind (only a very partial sight). For the first few years of her life, she was only able to communicate with her family through a rudimentary number of signs; she had a little more success communicating with the six year old daughter of the family cook. However, unable to communicate properly, she was considered to be badly behaved, for example, eating from the plates of anyone on the table with her fingers.
In 1886, Helen was sent to see an eye, ear and nose specialist in Baltimore. He put them in touch with Alexander Graham Bell, who was currently investigate issues of deafness and sound (he would also develop the first telephone) Bell, helped Keller to visit the Perkins Institute for the Blind, and this led to a long relationship with Anne Sullivan - who was a former student herself. Sullivan was visually impaired, but aged only 20 and with no prior experience, she set about teaching Helen how to communicate. The two maintained a long relationship of 49 years.

Learning to Communicate

In the beginning, Keller was frustrated by her inability to pick up the hand signals that Sullivan were giving. However, after a frustrating month, Keller picked up on Sullivan's system of hand signals through understanding the word water. Sullivan poured water over Keller's left hand and wrote out on her right hand the word 'water'. This helped Helen to fully understand the system, and she was soon able to identify a variety of household objects.
"The most important day I remember in all my life is the one on which my teacher, Anne Mansfield Sullivan, came to me. I am filled with wonder when I consider the immeasurable contrasts between the two lives which it connects. It was the third of March, 1887, three months before I was seven years old."
- Helen Keller, The Story of My Life, 1903, Ch. 4
helen-kellerKeller made rapid progress and quickly overcame her bad habits. She became proficient in braille, and was able to begin a fruitful education, despite her disability. Keller made more progress than anyone expected. She would later learn to write with a braille typewriter.
Keller came into contact with American author,Mark Twain. Twain admired the perseverance of Keller and helped persuade Henry Rogers, an oil businessman to fund her education. With great difficulty, Keller was able to study at Radcliffe College, where in 1904, she was able to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree. During her education, she also learned to speak and practise lip-reading. Her sense of touch became extremely subtle.
Keller became a proficient writer and speaker. In 1903, she published an autobiography 'The Story of My Life' It recounted her struggles to overcome her disabilities.

Political Views

Keller also wrote on political issues, Keller was a strong supporter of the American Socialist party and joined the party in 1909. She wished to see a fairer distribution of income, and an end to the inequality of Capitalist society. She said she became a more convinced socialist after the 1912 miners strike. Her book 'Out of the Dark' (1913) includes several essays on socialism. She supported Eugene V Debs, in each of the Presidential election he stood for. In 1912, she joined the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW); as well as advocating socialism, Keller was a pacifist and opposed the American involvement in World War One.

Religious Views

In religious matters, she advocated the teachings of Emanuel Swedenborg, a Christian theologian who advocated a particular spiritual interpretation of the Bible. She published 'My Religion' in 1927.

Charity Work

From 1918, she devoted much of her time to raise funds and awareness for blind charities. She sought to raise money and also improve the living conditions of the blind, who at the time were often badly educated and living in asylums. Her public profile helped to destigmatise blindness and deafness.
Towards the end of her life, she suffered a stroke and she died in her sleep on June 1, 1968. She was given numerous awards during her life, including the Presidential medal of Freedom in 1964, by Lyndon B. Johnson.

How Lightning Works

Although there is still some debate in the scientific community about how the electrification of clouds actually occurs, it is agreed that the separation of positive and negative charges must occur within a cloud for lightning to take place. It is also generally agreed that ice must be present within a developing storm for it to eventually form lightning.
The turbulent wind environment of a thunderstorm with its updrafts and downdrafts is an ideal environment to separate electric charges: negative charges generally gather near the base of the cloud, while positive charges build in the upper reaches of the cloud. This allows electric fields to form and grow between the cloud and the ground and within the cloud itself - all necessary conditions for lightning to occur.
Since similar-charged objects repel each-other and opposite-charged objects attract each other, negative charges then begin to spread out near the base of the cloud. At the same time, positive charges start to build underneath the storm. This region of positive charges travels underneath the cloud, almost like a shadow. The positive charges tend to concentrate on tall objects, like trees, poles and buildings.

cloud-to-ground lightning strike starts as a channel of negative charges makes its path towards the ground. This occurrence is known as a stepped leader. The stepped leader continues towards the ground in a series of steps that are each about 50 to 100 metres in length. This stepped leader can branch out in many directions.
In response to the discharge of negative charges coming from the cloud base, currents of positive charges start moving upward from the ground, usually along elevated objects; these are called streamers or upward leaders.
When the stepped leader and the upward leader meet, usually between 30 to 100 metres above the ground, the negative charges begin to flow downward. Almost instantaneously, a much larger and luminous electric current shoots up to the cloud, following the path taken by the stepped leader. This is known as the return stroke, and it is also what we see in the sky that is known as lightning. This whole process occurs so quickly (in less than one second!) that the lightning appears to travel from the cloud to the ground, when in fact, the opposite is true.
To see this process in action, you can watch the slow motion video which shows a single lightning strike. In the video you can see the many paths that the lightning wants to take, but it finds only one. The duration of the video is less than one second.  No wonder the naked eye cannot see all the steps involved!

Photo Credit: Johnny AuteryA lightning strike, or what Environment Canada refers to as a lightning flash, is usually made up of more than one stroke of lightning. After the initial strongest stroke, subsequent weaker strokes can follow which usually (but not always) follow the same path of the initial stroke.  When the lightning follows the same path, you’ll notice that it appears to flicker. If it takes a bit of a different path, it can appear to dance. On average, there are usually three to four subsequent strokes but the number can be as high as over twenty.
Examine above the photo of lightning hitting a tree. The stepped leader has obviously connected with the upward leader that came from the tree. But if you look closely, you can also see an upward leader coming from the tree that did not connect (indicated by the red arrow). There is also a very faint upward leader visible, coming up from a telephone pole just to the left of the tree (marked by the yellow arrow). These occur too fast and are often too faint for our eyes to see, other than when they are caught on film like this photographer managed. This photo also clearly demonstrates why it is not wise to seek shelter under a tree during a thunderstorm!
Cloud-to-ground lightning is the most dangerous and damaging form of lightning. Despite this, lightning within a cloud or that goes from cloud-to-cloud is the most common type of lightning. This type of lightning looks like a bright flicker in a cloud. For every cloud-to-ground strike, there can be three to five cloud-to-cloud strikes.
Another type of lightning occurs when some strokes actually emit from the ground into the sky.  In this case, the stepped leader proceeds from the ground towards the cloud. The photo below shows this phenomenon well.

The Different Looks of Lightning

Lightning can look very different. For example, you can recognize forked lightning by its jagged or crooked lines. You can also often see several branches shooting from the cloud to the ground, within a cloud, from one cloud to another, or even from the cloud to the air.
Other types of lightning:
  • The term “sheet lightning” is used to describe flashes that illuminate an entire cloud, but where the actual bolt of lightning is not seen.
  • Heat lightning is a term used to describe distant lightning that you can see but not hear. In this case the visibilities are usually good and the sky is often clear overhead.
  • The term “St. Elmo’s fire”, while not lightning, is used to describe still charged particles that appear as a blue or greenish glow above pointed objects such as trees, ship masts or airplane noses. It can sometimes be seen before a lightning strike.
  • Lightning can also be seen at high altitudes, shooting upwards out of thunderstorms. In these cases lightning is given fanciful names such as elves, sprites and blue jets.

Negative versus Positive Lightning Strikes

The vast majority of lightning strikes are negative lightning strikes, meaning there is a net transfer of negative charges from the cloud to the ground. Negatives strikes make up about 95 per cent of cloud-to-ground strikes.
When there is a net transfer of positive energy from the cloud to the ground, the strikes are considered positive lightning strikes. These strikes originate from areas of the cloud that have areas of high positive charge, such as in the anvil or top of the cloud, or upper parts of the thunderstorm.
Even though only about five per cent of lightning strikes are positive, they are quite significant because they carry a higher charge and last longer than negative strikes. Due to this, they tend to cause more damage to power and electricity infrastructure, and also start more forest fires than negative strikes. Positive strikes are more common in severe thunderstorms and in thunderstorms that occur during the winter.

Lightning does not just happen in thunderstorms…

Lightning is also known to occur in dust storms, forest fires, and volcanic eruptions.  Particles such as sand, smoke and ash, which exist in these environments, can also become electrically charged and create atmospheric conditions similar to that of a thunderstorm.

Holiday Experience

Last holiday, i didn't go anywhere. because my mother had an Umroh Trip. so i just stayed at home, or went out to accompany my little sister did some Kungfu exercise. even though these holiday only 2 weeks, even though these holiday i didn't hang out, but i was really thankful. because i was really free, peace, and. happy. no tasks, no homeworks, no team projects, no personal projects, oh i so enjoyed it.

Do  you wanna know about my holiday experience? I'll tell you

24 Dec
after i had paid SKS contract, i went to Pitimoss. Pitimoss is a pleasant place where you can read, lend, or both books. such as: comics, novels, biographies, literatures, or etc. to lend books, you have to be a member. at Pitimoss, i read my favorite comic: Death Note. i was so curious about the strory. I like Light. he is a Death Notes's character. he is smart, critical, cool, and handsome boy. i was drown by the story. until suddenly i heard sound of my adzan. there, i did dzuhur prayer. after that, i went to Ciwalk. i would meet my friend at 1 p.m. as we had planned before.

i arrived there at 1 p.m. I waited. i became bored. then i fooled around the mall, then stopped at Heartwarmer store, there i bought cute rilakuma spray bottle. then i went to bioskop to see the schedule of the movie that would be watched. but it was so sad, the movie (Catching Fire) was not played anymore.

i texted my friend because he hadn't came yet. he said he was on the way. then, i waited at KFC. But i got bored and little dissapointed, i decided to go home. and i bought red bean tea at Comebuy, after that went home. but when i was walking out, he finally came.

actually i was so upset, but i didn't know how to express it. we stared a while and didn't know what to do. HAHAHA i need an icebreaker!

because he had come, i didn;t go home. okay.

there, we would at Mujigae, but the table was empty. so we ate at Giggle Box, because i was confused and had no any choice. there, we talked a lot about everything. we really enjoyed it. but time passed really fast. my mother didn't accuse me to go home too noon. so before we went home, we fooled around the mall together.

25 Dec
my family and i went to my aunty's (my father's sister) house at Parakan. after that, we went to my grandpa's house. i got some money, yeaaaay!

26 Dec
i accompanied my sister to did Kungfu exercise at GGM. after that, my mom dropped us at mcD IP. then we went to PVJ. there, we watched The Hobbit. and we went home at night.

28 Dec
My big family had lunch together at Panghegar restaurant, because my mom and his sister would had an Umroh Trip. After that we went to my aunty's house.

my mom needed a jacket, so i accompanied her to buy at Jalan Riau. it was 8 p.m. and i was really tired and hungry. so we had a dinner at Richeese Factory, and then we went home.
